Vienna

I
escaped from my conference for an afternoon to see the city. This park had
statues of waltz-meister Johann Strauss (above) and Franz Schubert,
along with a cafe that blasted mindless dance pop.

Water
emerges from an underground channel - a heron fished just
downstream.

I mostly just rode one of the
cheap city bikes around town, didn't go inside much. Empress
Maria Theresia is immortalized in front of the natural history museum.

Waiting
in a line of dozens of horse-drawn carriages, a driver chats on his
cell phone.

Big
church with an unconventional roof.

The
second part of my ride took my through the wooded section of Prater
(near my hotel/conference) and then over the Danube.

Prater
is also home to an amusement park.

This
piggy bank ATM actually oinked at passers-by.

Night
view of the ferris wheels from my top-floor hotel room.
