One evening we decided to stroll from our apartment up to the
observatory
on Mount Pleasant.
This may be the best sunset view near Ithaca. You can see down
across town, even part of Cayuga Lake (which is over 6 miles away).
Even looking away from the sunset is beautiful. Here you can
see how the hills turn varying shades of blue-purple-gray.
We brought along a snack - some really good ice cream. It was
raspberry with huge chocolate chunks.
The sun gets ready to make its swan dive.
Not long after the sun's last peek, a coyote came out below us (sending
deer scattering) and barked at us incessantly until we left.
We spotted a pair of visitors right in our backyard.
Mother was nowhere to be seen, but the kids stuck together like glue.
Just browsing.
That itch again!
Ready for their close-up.
One fawn trotted down toward the water, but the other thought it was
running away, so it ran too, then the other ran away with it, crashing
into the brush.
Sunset from our place.
