Machu Picchu

After a very steep hike (everyone else took the bus), we arrived at the famous Inca site.

A pair of windows - like looking out through two giant eyes.

Amanda looks back at me through another window.

Roof apexes mirror the jagged peaks beyond.

We hadn't climbed enough to reach the ruins, so we hopped on up to Huayna Picchu (the mountain that stands above Machu Picchu).

Steps above a sheer drop that they'd never let you climb if Machu Picchu was in the U.S. - but we did.

Llamas keep the grass cut and the tourists entertained.

Temple of the Falcon (note the shape of the rocks) - from here we had to hop out a window to escape a tour group traffic jam.
