Fern illustrates the infinite possibility of the cat-nap

Fern (awake) shortly after she moved in.  The scratch on her nose has gone away, as has the allergic patch on her chin, the ringworm infection, and the skunk smell.

Although she had been outdoors long enough to acquire the above ailments, she adapted quickly to the life of a house cat.

She even put up with having purple "soft paws" glued onto her back claws (to keep her from irritating the spot on her chin when she scratched).

Fern had come up to me on the sidewalk meowing pitifully, and followed me home.  It was a cold night in January, so I brought her inside.

We figured within a few days we could return her to her owner, but apparently no one was looking for her.

We tried giving her away to friends, but couldn't find any takers.  So she's still hanging around with us.

Fern is a hard cat to satisfy - always wanting more food, more attention, more play time.

Honestly, she doesn't lie around all that much when we're at home and awake.  She's only a year old, has lots of energy.

But sometimes, soft furniture or carpeting calls out to her.  Like any cat, Fern is an expert at being comfortable...

...even if she doesn't look especially comfortable.

Are you bored of this stuff yet?

You can always take a stretching break and do something else.

In Fern's case, she will probably get up and nag us for food, or start batting at the nearest dangling object.

She has her own unique perspective on the world.

Clearly Fern was not born to lead the life of a stray.  A soft-blanketed throne and plenty of table scraps is all she needs.

Hey, a change of scenery!

Back on the first chair, but without the red blanket.

Making herself quite comfortable, right in the middle of the bed.

Except, would you mind turning off that light?!?

This is as close as Fern now comes to the outside world.  That's fine with her, she likes the indoor life.
