La Paz to Lake Titicaca

An old VW Beetle (surprisingly common in Cusco) in front of the
Qoricancha ruins, once the site of the Inca Temple of the Sun.

Nice stonework along an old Inca road near Cusco's main plaza.

A weekend festival featured little soldiers with camouflage pencils.

A princess, a tiger, and a parrot suit up to join the festivities.

Girls hold environment-themed signs. The kids behind them wore
color-coded "Organico" and "Inorganico" trash bags to promote
separating compost from trash.

The Inca site of Moray, thought to have been an agricultral research
station. A visitor medidates in the center while workers
"restore" the outer rings.

Walked from Moray to Salinas - salty water flows out of the ground and
is channeled into dozens of evaporation ponds where the salt is
collected.

A typical lane in Ollantaytambo - channels divert water through the
town, hillside ruins can be seen above.

A friendly kitten hopped onto my lap at Govinda restaurant in Aguas
Calientes, batted at my camera lens cap, groomed, napped, shared
Amanda's veggie burger.

Two types of translucent butterflies (the larger looks like a species
of Ithomiinae) mobbed these little yellow flowers.

Waterfall at Mandor, a few km up the train tracks from Aguas Calientes.

Another cascade through impressively-shaped rocks.

A "tarantula hawk moth" (the blue insect with dark amber wings) was
dragging a dead sized spider several times its size, and doing pretty
well at it.

Another kitty, this one at the hotel where we stayed, joins Amanda for
the standard breakfast of bread, bananas, and fresh-squeezed orange
juice.

As we walked UP to Machu Picchu, we came across this interesting sphinx
moth.
