Klint Chalk Cliffs

The first night of our weekend trip, we stayed at a little
farm B&B near the cliffs that had a nice view down to the sea.

In a flashback to our last big trip, they had Highland
cows too. Note the mother cow giving junior a facewash.

Flowers by the driveway attracted several butterflies (and
a little yellowjacket inside the rose).

These two tabby kittens were trying so persistantly to get
milk from the collie, it seems like they must have been getting
somewhere.

The most accessible stairway down to the base of the chalk
cliffs ended in water - thus the people here carrying shoes (and one
man carrying a dog).
Video clip: press the play button and watch the line of sun advance
(but turn off your sound - it's mostly wind noise).

Shoes back on, we set out down the coast.

A cormorant shakes his wings to dry off.

Amanda at the clifftops with patterned water below.

This stump was apparently Mecca to the local mollusk
community.

On the way back to the farm, we found some bountiful
blackberry bushes. We ate berries the next two days and baked the
rest into a torte.

At Liselund Park (near the north end of the cliffs), this
bee was doing the bee thing.

Peeking down through the trees at the remains of a tall
cliff that collapsed a few years ago.

A clearer view from directly above the landslide.

Looking back up at the cliffs from below the big
slide. Some of the fallen trees are making the best of their new
positions.

Milky water washes against the chalk while kayakers
navigate around displaced trees.

Sunset from a flower-covered hilltop near the place we
camped for our second night.
