What's all this white stuff?

Thanks to global warming, this has been an exceptionally mild winter by Copenhagen's standards.  Through mid-January, the temperature didn't even dip close to freezing.  We took advantage by taking plenty of bike rides and hikes - here we are on a wooded trail near Lyngby Sø (a lake north of town).

So it was quite a contrast on Monday morning when winter made its belated entrance.  Since then temperatures have actually been cold and snow has fallen a couple times.  Here's the view from my office window - note the three pigeons huddled on a branch to the right.

While it hasn't been a harsh winter, the persistant cloudiness has made it an especially dark one.  Fortunately, our apartment is like a perch in the sky, and when there is any sunlight, Amanda can often be found in this chair soaking it up.

Of course, Amanda isn't the only one who likes the sun, but I think we're rather indulgent to let Fern bask on our dinner table.  As I write this, I'm sitting in the sunny chair, hoping some heliotherapy will keep me from coming down with a cold.
