Amboró East: Volcanes

Colorful parrots as we walk toward Volcanes, another community
ecotourism project near Amboró sponsored by Probioma.

Tree blossoms and mountains beyond - we rock-hopped to cross the stream
about 13 times on the way to Volcanes.

After arriving at the ecolodge, it was time for a rest..

Looking down at the ecolodge past my favorite flora - irridescent blue
and turquoise flowers on red or pink stalks, with orange-tipped anthers

Amanda with colorful blossoms and mountain scenery.

We kept climbing steep trails to a series of overlooks, each higher
than the last.

Pretty flower.

Amanda finds herself in a rootsy setting.

Strangler figs and vines climb a tree.

At this site where two little brooks met, I counted at least a dozen
types of butterflies (including perhaps 4 species of Pieridae visible
here).

At the same location, a pair of large blue morpho butterflies (about 6
inches
long) playing tag.

Just before seeing this 2ft green snake, we saw a much longer and
thicker brown one that climbed a tree to make its escape.
